111 Places - part 9

Hello, I've been out and about again visiting places listed in my
'111 Places In Glasgow You Shouldn't Miss' book.

Two more, that are next to each other, number 36 - Police Box and number 62 - King Billy Statue.
The police box is listed in the book as Empire Coffee but any time we have passed it is closed so not sure if it is still operating. Which is a pity 'cos it was a cool idea!
The statue was moved from Glasgow Cross and is now near the Cathedral behind a big iron fence! The horse's tail is articulated and sways in the wind.

Pumpkin Recipes

Boo! I know, I know, it's only August! But the September Sweet Treat Box from Paper, Pen and Plan popped through my letter box the other day and I couldn't wait to have a play with all the Autumn/Halloween stash that was packed inside. And, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a new bit of kit, a bookbinding tool by We R Memory Keepers. After an initial go with some scrap paper I was off and running!

Everything I used to make my Pumpkin Recipe book came in my Sweet Treat Box (apart from the recipes which were googled and printed). My new bookbinding tool made it easy to use the patterned paper to make a little booklet. I then decorated with the cute stickers.

Inside each page has a picture and the recipe. Mmmmm, creamy pumpkin and lentil soup, looks delicious.

As well as the stickers I used diecuts, also from the box, to decorate.

Pumpkin Pancakes, will definately be trying these!

And final one, Pumpkin French Toast. I'm going to add a second book for apple recipes - toffee apples etc. This was really easy to put together and I'm so pleased with the way it has turned out.

I have filmed a short unboxing of the September Sweet Treat Box and you can find it here. My little booklets fit perfectly into the felt cover which is from Jaine over at Basement Studio

Old Friend

Hello. Today I'm sharing my regular make for Seven Hills Crafts. I love Waffle Flower stamps, there's something about the quirky style that always makes me smile. This one is 'Plant Kindness', you get the main image and eight mix and match sentiments. The image is fairly big, great for some colouring practice and it fills the space on a larger size card base!

I stamped onto watercolour card using my Versafine ink pad. Then I used my watercolour paints to colour. Once the first layer of paint is dry I like to add a second layer highlighting parts of the image that would be in shadow, like along the top of the cup.

The background white card was diecut using the 'Circle Texture Die' also by Waffle Flower. I use this die alot. It adds subtle texture and pattern when your main image is quite busy.

Thanks for stopping by today, happy crafting!

Coffee Journal - part 1

Hello. I have started another journal! This one is recording our frequent visits to various coffee places. The front cover was already printed so all I had to do was add some coffee related die cut ephemera. On the opening page I stamped and coloured some coffee stamps and added bits of washi tape. On the right hand side I covered the page with patterned paper and found the perfect tag for the centre.

The journal pages are pretty much following the same layout as my '111 Places' journal. A heading, a picture, a bit of journalling and some decoration. The super cool heart washi was in this months Sweet Treat Box from Paper, Pen and Plan.

Although I do love coffee I'm pretty much a latte girl, my hubby is really the big coffee drinker so I managed to persuade him to do the written reviews for each page. I think he's done a fabulous job!

These are the first two entries. The Kelvingrove Cafe and Cottonrake, both in Glasgow's West End. There will be plenty more entries coming soon!

Here is my stack of Travellers Notebooks. Each has two journals inside. The pink and grey floral has my Nature Journal and '111 Places' Journal. The hearts has my Snippets Journal and Watercolour Journal. And the dotted one has my new Coffee Journal and another new one that will be revealed soon!

to the birthday girl

Hello. Today I'm sharing my regular make for Seven Hills Crafts. When I was little (I'm going to show my age now) I loved playing with those paper dress up dolls. The outfits had little foldover tags to attach them to the cardboard doll, hours of fun! Well this stamp set reminded me of those dolls. It's the Fashion Wear Stamp Set by Concord & 9th. You get two basic face stamps and then you can stamp different hairstyles and accessories. This means you can personalise for the recipient. There's loads of sentiments too!

For my card I used the largest die from the Wonky Stitches set by Avery Elle to cut a piece of watercolour card. I then stamped my girls using Versafine as I used watercolours to colour. The background patterned paper is from the Vintage Botanicals paper pad.

Thanks for stopping by today, happy crafting!

Nature Journal - part 7

Hello. Succulents seem to be all the rage right now so when I came across an article all about them in one of my 'fancy' magazines I knew where the graphics would end up - in my nature journal!

I started off by skooshing some Impasto paint down the side of papers that came in this month's Sweet Treat Box. When that was dry I stamped some succulents and added some washi. The alphabet stickers and paper flowers were also in this months box.

let's party

Hello. Today I'm sharing my regular make for Seven Hills Crafts. Kate, Beth, Josh and Sam are all very excited! They have been invited to Beth's birthday party. Beth's mum is a bit crafty and has made cute place cards using the Lil'Inker stamp set 'Cake Party' and the MFT stamp set 'Birdie Brown Alphabet & Numbers'.

The images have been stamped  using a Memento ink pad and coloured with Copic marker pens. Green and blue for the boys and green and pink for the girls. They were cut out and popped onto the place cards using foam pads.

This set would be perfect to make all the co-ordinating items for a party e.g. invitations, goodie bags and thank you cards.

it's your birthday

Hello, every wee while I need to make a card using a Penny Black stamp! If you have been following my blog for a while you will already know that it was Penny Black stamps that started my cardmaking journey. I loved them then, and still love them! This one is a woodmounted stamp called 'perils of love'. I coloured using my Inktense watercolour pencils.

I am entering the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday...circles.

blogging HQ!

Hello. Today I thought I would share 'Blogging HQ'! I've been using my Travellers Notebook for blog planning and just generally keeping track of all things crafty. Inside there are various notebook inserts - a diary section, design work section, ideas, notes etc. As that's been a year now the diary section is full - cue new planner! Just when I needed one Clare over at Paper, Pen and Plan got these gorgeous Carpe Dieme ring bound planners in stock. So now I will use the two together. The new one will be the diary section to keep track and plan blog posts and the existing TN will still have ideas, notes etc.

Here's a peek inside. As the pages are bigger now I have more room to pretty it up! So I have gathered some bits in my acrylic stand - stickers, washi, stamps, clips are all now to hand. Righty ho then, I'm off to make plans!!

Amazing Day

Hello. Two super quick cards to share today. I used these stamp sets for a recent Seven Hills post and they were still on my desk so I couldn't resist having another play.

The sets are Plentiful Petals and Coffee Date both by My Favourite Things. The sentiments are Hand Drawn Happiness by Lil'Inker and So Kind by Avery Elle. I used Versamagic chalk ink for the images and Versafine Onyx Black for the sentiments.

love - scrapbook page

Hello. Today I'm sharing my regular make for Seven Hills Crafts. and it's a scrapbook page. I mainly scrap in albums that are 6"x8" with a mix of pocket pages and cardstock pages, like this one. I took this picture very recently. We were out and about in Glasgow and came across this gorgeous entrance to a tenement building. The flowers were so vivid and I immediately thought 'scrapbook page'!

Firstly I gave the page a wash with watercolour paint. I then used snippets of paper from the Simple Stories Vintage Botanicals paper pad. I stamped, coloured and cut out the flowers and leaves from the Altenew set Weekend Doodles (matching dies here). I then added my photograph overlapping the leaves and flowers. A little bit of Vintage Botanicals Washi adds interest to the edges. I coloured the Altenew Wood Veneers with a marker pen to tone in with my colour scheme.

Thanks for stopping by today, happy crafting!

Hello

Hello, today I'm sharing my regular make for Colourific Stamps. This time I have used the Hydrangeas Set. First of all I masked off either side of the middle section of the card using some washi tape. Then I randomly stamped the flowers and coloured. I edged the flower border with a fine tip black pen.

The 'hello' is from the Cling Sentiments set by Hampton Arts and I added some sequins for a bit of sparkle.

Colourific have launched a brand new challenge blog.  It's anything goes so couldn't be simpler! All the details are here. One lucky winner will receive a gorgeous stamp set
