Simply Create Design Team (part 3)

Nearly finished this month's DT duties for Simply Create. My monthly box contained papers and stamps by Glitz Designs, chipboard crowns, buttons, twine and plastic 'ribbon'.

For the top card I cut out the images from one of the papers. I stamped the DP behind the phone with the numbers stamp. Punched out a border and finished with ribbon and a button.

For the second card I again cut the image from the papers. I covered the chipboard crown and inked the edges, what a palaver!

So there you have it, like I said before, way out my comfort zone. I wonder what January's box will bring?

many thanks

Well that's another Christmas done and dusted. We had a lovely time. A small select band - me, hubby, my mum and my two sis-in-laws spent 3 days at the Marine Hotel, North Berwick. Christmas Eve to Boxing Day, the most relaxing Christmas ever!

Now we are on the countdown to steak pie and shortbread season. Yep, hogmanay is just around the corner. Time to dust down the pipes and shake the mothballs out of hubby's kilt, aye he has a fine pair o' legs!

For my card I used my new Banana Frog stamps, build-a-bloom. Think I might be using these a lot. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts clear set and the twine is from the Ribbon Girl.

I am entering my card into 3 challenges....

Happy Birthday Husband

My husbands birthday is on the 23rd, two days before Christmas. His pet hate? Birthday gifts wrapped in Christmas papers!

He loves cake so I looked out this Whipper Snapper stamp 'cupcake mouse'. I coloured with copics and promarkers.

I am entering this card into two challenges....

The Spotted Chick.....krafty thursday

Later tonight I will pack away all the Christmas crafty stuff to the back of the cupboard. No more glitter for at least 8 months!

keep in touch

There are some fab new digi images available over in the boutique. The one I have used today is from the New Home Collection. Doesn't it go perfectly with these Echo Park papers?

Simple to colour, I used promarkers, done in a jiffy! I finished off with some twine, pearls and a sentiment from Craftwork cards.

I am entering this card into the Allsorts challenge..anything goes.

altered embroidery hoop

This is another project for my design team duties for Simply Create. This months box was filled with papers from Glitz Design, buttons, twine, chipboard shapes and a few other bits and bobs.

I spotted these embroidery hoops in my local craft shop and had a eureka moment!

The large nestie circle is the perfect size to fit the frame. I then used the next nestie down to cut out the yellow circle from the designer paper and inked the edges. I stamped the bird and cut out the flower (also from the papers). I inked the hoop, messy business. Added the little roses, buttons and twine. Job done.

my big button

No card to share but I just thought you would love to see what I found whilst Christmas shopping in Glasgow at the weekend. The biggest button you ever did see and I had to have it!

It is far too spectacular to be hidden away on my keys so I have attached it to my bag. So if you are out and about in the Glasgow/South Lanarkshire area and you spot my button please say hello!

Whilst I am here I have to tell you, 'cos I know you would want to know, that the DigiStamp Boutique has all Christmas images reduced by 20%.
So pop over and bag a bargain!

Love at Christmas

I had a lovely day yesterday, thanks to everyone for my birthday wishes. As you might expect there were quite a few crafty bits amongst my pressies. A couple of new Penny Blacks, some Tim Holtz stuff and this brilliant little stamp set from Banana Frog. How clever is my hubby? I mentioned this company a while back and he made an order to be delivered to my sister-in-laws house so that it would be a surprise. Bless.

So this is my card to hubby using the new set. I used two of the petal stamps to make a heart shape. I stamped with black ink on to basic grey paper and heat embossed. I doodled three bits of holly and cut out. I also doodled the black border and like that it wobbles a bit!

You can't quite see in the pic' but I also embossed two lines near the bottom and finished off with 3 heart shaped gems.

When he opened it his words were 'how many challenges have I been entered into?' They know us so well!

It fits 3 challenges....

Simply Create design team card

Today I am sharing another creation from this month's design team box from Simply Create. I love getting my monthly boxes, it is always a huge surprise. But sometimes it takes you right out your comfort zone, and I mean a gazillion miles out!

I stamped the numbers and the dots on off white card and inked the edges. I also inked the crown with yellow and green and added the gems. There was also a piece of 'plastic' ribbon in my box which had me more than a little perplexed but I have used it behind my button.

I am entering my card into two challenges.....

ABC.....J for jewels

Tuesday 7 December 2010

hello

Well, haven't I been a busy bee today? I am starting to get a flavour of what things would be like when that early retirement hopefully comes. Of course, not wishing my life away, but snow days are cool, in more ways than one!

Anyways, browsing blogland, as you do, I came across this fabulous blog 'The Spotted Chick'. As well as gorgeous creations there is a challenge to enter, so I did. A brill' sketch.....

As I had loads of time I hunted through the crafty cupboard and came upon this rarely used Whipper Snapper stamp 'potted kitty'. I coloured with copics/promarkers. The papers are MME 'quite contrary'. The sentiment is a Hero Arts clear stamp and the twine is from the Ribbon Girl.

Well, that's it from the snowy frozen West of Scotland for today. But who knows, there may be another crafty day in store tomorrow. I need to phone after 7am in the morning to find out (fingers crossed).

tah-dah.....

.....snowball scarf done, easy peasy!

Now if only I could find a needle I would sew those buttons on that bag.

snowed in projects

Another unexpected day off. Yesterday we were sent home because the heating in our office building broke down. What a lucky break that was 'cos I managed home in the nick of time, just before the snow took hold. Hubby had to walk, but at least got home safe. Unlike those poor souls stuck in their cars, and some still stuck.

So yesterday was put to good use. The tree is up and the parcels wrapped. Today I have crafty plans. A couple of small projects that have been kicking about a bit are going to finally get done! A scarf in a ball will certainly be put to good use when finished.

And, some buttons to sew on to this......

This is the view from the crafty room as I am typing this. I have to say it does all look spectacular, but I'm getting a bit fed up of it now!

Simply Create DT box

I thought you might like to see my first make with this months DT box from Simply Create. A totally different style for me, but I likey!

Here is how it started in life.....

......gorgeous! Now I wonder what I will do with those crowns? Any ideas?

Oh, and while I'm here, Jacqui my boss at Simply Create is running a challenge with a fabby prize. Get all the info' here.

Beau sends love at Christmas

Bit of a change away from the square cards that I normally do. But Beau is so tall and elegant that she deserves a tall card all to herself.

The paper is 'Let it Snow' by Dovecraft and really sparkles in real life, honest! I coloured Beau with Promarkers and Copics. The sentiment is by Craftwork cards and that little pack of mixed sentiments has been my best Christmas buy this year.

Beau is from the DigiStamp Boutique, and remember, if you make a card using a DSB image you can enter it into December's comp' here for a chance of winning some fabby images.

Saturday 4 December 2010

So, please take yourself off to the Crafty Calendar challenge blog for more info on this months challenge and some fabulous inspiration from my teamies.
